This CD contains the following books:
- This book by Samuel P. Putnam is one of the very best histories of freethought, it accurately describes the long struggle against entrenched superstition and the advances freethought achieved over the previous 400 years.
- There are many pictures of individual freethinkers, and descriptions of freethought organizations, conventions, magazines, art, and publications that made up “The Golden Age of Freethought” – that began immediately after the American Civil War, 1865.
- This history was written before the end of the great surge of freethought that gave hope that reason and justice would at last triumph, but this great dream was shattered by “The War to End Wars” (W.W. I).
- One wonders if that war was arranged to put an end to the advance of reason and freethought, or was it simply for profit, as wars usually are.
- This book is reproduced from Bank of Wisdom CD-ROM #2, “An Introduction to Freethought, the Religion of Freedom.”
