“In 1784 he went to Europe with Franklin and Adams (both Rationalists), and, remaining until 1789 as American representative at Paris. he associated intimately with D’Alembert and the French Rationalists.” (Joseph McCabe, Biographical Dictionary of Modern Rationalists, pp. 387-88.). He was a Deist, having rejecting Christianity, and a materialist. The “Jefferson Bible,” in addition to all his writings, can be found on the Jefferson CD. He died on July 4, 1826, the same day as John Adams, the second President of the United States of America.
