Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, despite having very little formal education when he was young. However, he was an avid reader as a youth, reading Volney and Paine, as well as other free thinkers, like Voltaire and Bayle.
He eventually studied law and became a practicing attorney in Springfield, Illinois. He was elected President of the Unioted States in 1860. Like our other founding fathers, he was never more than a deist having rejecting Christianity. He was assassinated and died on April 15, 1865.
